Zakiyah is an artist from New York City, currently residing in New England where she teaches
studio arts, digital arts, and animation to students of all ages. She earned a Bachelor of Fine
Arts in Animation from Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Since graduating, Zakiyah has gained experience in creating original media for marketing,
learned basic programming skills, and increased her information technology knowledge while
teaching the arts full time.
Her long-term goals include exploring the merge of art and technology through animation and
programming while releasing short films. Among her major influences are director Hayao
Miyazaki’s films, which aided her love for nature and interest in small details in everyday life.
Her animations reflect her personal observations within society, and the beauty and
appreciation for the natural world.
Zakiyah is most interested in traditional 2D animation, digital animation, 3D modeling, and
abstract/experimental animation.
